### **Technical Datasheet: Nickel 200 Pipe (UNS N02200)**
#### **1. Product Overview**
**Nickel 200 Pipe** (also known as **Alloy 200 Pipe**) is a wrought product form manufactured from commercially pure nickel (99.6% minimum). This pipe is engineered for exceptional performance in transporting aggressive chemicals, gases, and process streams where corrosion resistance, product purity, and high thermal conductivity are critical.
Nickel 200 Pipe exhibits outstanding resistance to reducing environments, caustic alkalis, and neutral salts. It maintains excellent mechanical properties from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately **315°C (600°F)**. Its high ductility and good weldability make it suitable for complex piping systems.
**High-Temperature Advisory:** For continuous service above 315°C (600°F), **Nickel 201 Pipe (UNS N02201)** is the strongly recommended grade. Its low carbon content prevents the embrittlement that can occur in Nickel 200 due to grain-boundary carbide precipitation at elevated temperatures.
#### **2. Chemical Composition (% Weight)**
The composition conforms to standard specifications for pipe and tube products such as ASTM B161.
| Element | Content (%) (ASTM B161) | Content (%) (Typical) |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| **Nickel (Ni)** | 99.0 min | ≥ 99.6 |

| **Copper (Cu)** | 0.25 max | 0.15 |
| **Silicon (Si)** | 0.35 max | 0.15 |
| **Sulfur (S)** | 0.01 max | 0.005 |

#### **6. Key Characteristics & Advantages**
* **Superior Corrosion Resistance:** Excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive media, including caustic alkalis (e.g., sodium hydroxide), dilute hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, and various neutral and reducing salt solutions. Highly resistant to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.
* **High Thermal Conductivity:** Offers efficient heat transfer, making it suitable for heat exchanger and condenser applications.
* **Excellent Fabricability:** Nickel 200 Pipe can be easily bent, formed, and flared. It is readily weldable using all common techniques, especially Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), with matching Nickel 200 filler metal (ERNi-1).
* **Low Gas Permeability:** Particularly to hydrogen and other gases, which is critical for high-purity systems and aerospace applications.
* **Cryogenic Toughness:** Maintains excellent ductility and impact strength at sub-zero temperatures, making it suitable for liquefied gas services.
