**Technical Datasheet: Alloy 75 (Haynes 75 / UNS N06075) Sheet** **1. Introduction** Alloy 75 (commercially known as **Haynes 75** and standardized as **UNS N06075**) is a solid-solution strengthened nickel-chromium-tungsten alloy specifically designed for extreme high-temperature service. In **sheet** form, this material combines exceptional high-temperature strength with outstanding oxidation resistance, making it ideal for lightweight structural components in severe thermal environments. The sheet product form offers excellent formability and weldability, allowing for fabrication of complex components that must maintain structural integrity at temperatures up to 1200°C (2200°F). **2. Chemical Composition (Weight %)** | Element | Content (%) | Role in the Alloy | |---------|-------------|-------------------| | Nickel (Ni) | Balance | Forms austenitic matrix, provides corrosion resistance and ductility | | Chromium (Cr) | 18.0-21.0 | Provides oxidation and sulfidation resistance through protective scale formation | | Tungsten (W) | 14.0-16.0 | Primary solid-solution strengthener for high-temperature strength | | Iron (Fe) | ≤3.0 | Residual element | | Cobalt (Co) | ≤2.0 | Residual element | | Manganese (Mn) | ≤1.0 | Aids in deoxidation during melting | | Silicon (Si) | ≤0.50 | Enhances oxidation resistance | | Carbon (C) | ≤0.10 | Contributes to strength | | Sulfur (S) | ≤0.015 | Impurity element | | Phosphorus (P) | ≤0.015 | Impurity element | **3. Physical Properties** | Property | Value | Condition | |----------|-------|-----------| | Density | 8.94 g/cm³ (0.323 lb/in³) | At 20°C | | Melting Point | ~1370°C (~2500°F) | - | | Thermal Expansion Coefficient | 12.1 μm/m·°C (6.7 μin/in·°F) | 20-1000°C | | Thermal Conductivity | 11.2 W/m·K | At 20°C | | Specific Heat | 431 J/kg·K (0.103 Btu/lb·°F) | At 20°C | | Modulus of Elasticity | 224 GPa (32.5 × 10⁶ psi) | At 20°C | **4. Mechanical Properties (Typical for Annealed Condition)** **Room Temperature Properties:** - Tensile Strength: 760 MPa (110 ksi) minimum - Yield Strength (0.2% Offset): 345 MPa (50 ksi) minimum - Elongation: 40% minimum - Hardness: Rb 85 maximum **Elevated Temperature Performance:** - Excellent creep and stress-rupture strength at temperatures above 980°C (1800°F) - Maintains oxidation resistance and mechanical properties under thermal cycling - Good fatigue resistance at high temperatures **5. Key Characteristics & Advantages** - **Superior High-Temperature Strength**: Solid-solution strengthening from tungsten provides exceptional strength retention at elevated temperatures - **Outstanding Oxidation Resistance**: Forms a protective, self-healing chromium oxide scale that resists spalling in cyclic temperature service - **Excellent Formability**: Sheets can be readily deep drawn, spun, and formed into complex shapes using standard equipment - **Superior Weldability**: Excellent welding characteristics using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and resistance welding methods - **Lightweight Structural Capability**: Thin sheet forms provide high strength-to-weight ratio for aerospace applications - **Long-Term Microstructural Stability**: Resists formation of detrimental phases during prolonged high-temperature exposure **6. Product Applications** Alloy 75 sheet is specified for critical high-temperature applications including: **Aerospace & Defense:** - Gas turbine engine components - Combustion chamber liners - Afterburner components - Exhaust system shrouds and seals - Heat shield components - Aircraft firewall structures **Industrial Processing:** - Furnace liners and curtains - Heat treatment fixtures - Radiant tube assemblies - High-temperature gaskets and seals - Thermal processing equipment linings **Power Generation:** - Combustion chamber liners - Heat exchanger components - Turbine shroud segments - High-temperature ducting **7. International Standards** Alloy 75 sheet conforms to the following international standards: | Standard Organization | Standard Designation | Description | |----------------------|---------------------|-------------| | ASTM International | ASTM B435 | Plate, Sheet, and Strip | | ASME | SB-435 | Plate, Sheet, and Strip (for pressure vessel applications) | | Aerospace (SAE) | AMS 5718 | Bars, Forgings, and Rings (base material reference) | | Unified Numbering System | UNS N06075 | - | **Product Forms and Sizes:** - Thickness range: 0.1 mm to 5 mm (0.004" to 0.2") - Standard sheet sizes up to 1200 mm × 2400 mm (48" × 96") - Available in various tempers and surface finishes - Can be supplied with polished, pickled, or descaled surfaces **Fabrication Notes:** - Excellent for deep drawing and spinning operations - Suitable for hot forming at 1050-1200°C (1920-2190°F) - Can be welded using all standard methods without post-weld heat treatment - Good machinability using techniques appropriate for high-temperature alloys **Disclaimer**: This technical data is provided for informational purposes only. Properties may vary based on manufacturing process, heat treatment, and specific product form. For critical applications, consult the manufacturer's current technical data sheets and relevant industry standards. Always verify material certification and testing requirements for your specific application.
