        ### **Waspaloy (UNS N07001) & Waspaloy Sheet - Technical Datasheet**
#### **1. Overview**
Waspaloy (UNS N07001) is a high-strength, precipitation-hardenable nickel-based superalloy. It is renowned for its exceptional performance at temperatures up to 980°C (1800°F), offering an outstanding combination of creep strength, oxidation resistance, and fabricability. **Waspaloy Sheet** is a critical product form used to manufacture complex components through forming and welding processes, making it indispensable in aerospace and industrial applications.
#### **2. Chemical Composition**
The high-temperature capability of Waspaloy is derived from a precise balance of solid-solution strengtheners and gamma-prime [γ'] forming elements.

#### **4. Mechanical Properties (Typical for Sheet - Solution Annealed and Aged)**
Properties can vary with thickness and exact heat treatment. The following are typical for sheet per standards like AMS 5544.
*   **Tensile Strength:** ≥ 1240 MPa (180 ksi)
*   **Yield Strength (0.2% Offset):** ≥ 795 MPa (115 ksi)
*   **Elongation:** ≥ 15%
*   **Hardness:** ≥ 34 HRC
#### **5. Waspaloy Sheet**
**Waspaloy Sheet** typically refers to material under 3mm (0.125 inches) in thickness, supplied in the solution annealed condition. This state provides an optimal balance of strength and ductility, allowing for severe forming operations before the material undergoes a final aging heat treatment to achieve its maximum strength.
**Key Features of Waspaloy Sheet:**
* **Excellent High-Temperature Strength:** Maintains high tensile and creep strength in demanding thermal environments.
* **Superior Oxidation Resistance:** Forms a protective, adherent chromium oxide scale that prevents further degradation.
* **Good Fabricability:** Can be stamped, drawn, and formed into complex shapes in the annealed condition. It can also be welded using matching filler metals like AMS 5828.
* **Controlled Thickness & Finish:** Sheets are produced to precise dimensional tolerances with surface finishes suitable for aerospace components.
#### **6. Product Applications**
Waspaloy Sheet is primarily used where complex, thin-walled components are required to withstand extreme heat and stress.
*   **Aerospace & Jet Engines:**
    * **Combustion Chamber Liners** and **Afterburner Components**
    *   **Turbine Shrouds** and **Seals**
    * **Exhaust Ducts** and **Nozzle Assemblies**
    * **Heat Shields** and **Casing Sections**
*   **Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT):**
    * **Transition Ducts** and **Combustion Caps**
    * **Hot Gas Path Seals** and **Liners**
*   **Other Applications:**
    * High-temperature bellows and expansion joints.
    * Components for heat treating fixtures.
#### **7. International Standards**
Waspaloy Sheet is covered by several key international standards that define its chemical, mechanical, and delivery requirements.
**Aerospace (Primary Standards):**
*   **AMS (Aerospace Material Specification):**
    * **AMS 5544:** This is the primary specification for Waspaloy *Sheet, Strip, and Plate*. It covers material that is solution heat treated (at 1550°F min) and supplied in this condition for subsequent forming and aging.
    * **AMS 5828:** Specification for Waspaloy welding wire, used for fabricating sheet metal assemblies.
**ASTM / ASME:**
* **ASTM B637:** While primarily for bars and forgings, this standard is often referenced for its chemical and heat treatment requirements.
* **ASME SB637:** Equivalent to ASTM B637 for ASME Code construction.
**European & Others:**
* **ISO 9724:** Nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy bars (provides a chemical reference).
* **EN 10204:** Type 3.1/3.2 Inspection Certificates (standard for material certification in Europe).
