**Technical Datasheet: Alloy S (UNS N06635) Bar - Round Bar & Flat Bar**
**Overview**
Alloy S Bar, commercially known as Hastelloy® S Bar and standardized as UNS N06635, is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum wrought superalloy supplied in both round bar and flat bar forms. This alloy is specifically engineered for exceptional high-temperature structural applications where superior oxidation resistance, thermal stability, and fabricability are required. The bar product form serves as essential stock material for machining components that must withstand severe thermal cycling, oxidizing, sulfidizing, and carburizing environments up to 1200°C (2200°F).
**Key Characteristics of Alloy S Bar**
* **Excellent High-Temperature Strength:** Maintains remarkable load-bearing capacity and creep-rupture properties under sustained exposure to elevated temperatures
* **Superior Oxidation Resistance:** Lanthanum addition ensures exceptional oxide scale adhesion and spallation resistance during thermal cycling
* **Outstanding Thermal Stability:** Low carbon content and balanced chemistry prevent embrittlement from sigma phase formation during prolonged high-temperature exposure
* **Excellent Fabricability:** Both round and flat bars can be readily machined, forged, and welded using standard techniques for nickel-based alloys
