MONEL Alloy 400,nickel-copper alloy, NI-S1668-CU-CUCustomizedCustomized
### **Product Introduction: MONEL® Alloy 400** **MONEL® Alloy 400** is a premier nickel-copper alloy known for its exceptional corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments, including seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and alkaline solutions. It offers high strength and toughness over a broad temperature range, from cryogenic conditions up to about 1000°F (538°C). This combination of properties makes it a versatile and reliable material for demanding applications in marine, chemical, and hydrocarbon processing industries. As a solid-solution alloy, it can be strengthened only by cold working, maintaining good ductility and fabricability in the annealed condition. --- ### **International Standards & Material Equivalents** MONEL® Alloy 400 is standardized across all major international specifications. | Standard Type | Standard Number | Designation | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | **UNS (USA)** | **N04400** | Alloy 400 | | **ASTM (USA)** | B127 | Plate, Sheet, and Strip | | **ASTM (USA)** | B164 | Rod and Bar | | **ASTM (USA)** | B165 | Seamless Pipe and Tube | | **DIN (Germany)** | 17743 | NiCu30Fe | | **Werkstoff Nr.** | **2.4360** | 2.4360 | | **EN (Europe)** | EN 10095 | NiCu30Fe | | **BS (UK)** | BS 3075 | NA 13 | | **JIS (Japan)** | H4551 | NMCu 28-2.5-1.5 | > **Note:** MONEL® is a registered trademark of Special Metals Corporation (now part of rolledAlloys). The generic name is often written as "Alloy 400" or "Ni-Cu Alloy 400". --- ### **Chemical Composition** The composition is precisely balanced to provide its signature corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. | Element | Content (%) | | :--- | :--- | | **Nickel (Ni)** | 63.0 min. | | **Copper (Cu)** | 28.0 - 34.0 | | **Iron (Fe)** | 2.5 max. | | **Manganese (Mn)** | 2.0 max. | | **Carbon (C)** | 0.3 max. | | **Silicon (Si)** | 0.5 max. | | **Sulfur (S)** | 0.024 max. | --- ### **Physical Properties** MONEL Alloy 400 possesses a set of physical properties that support its use in various engineering applications. | Property | Value | | :--- | :--- | | **Density** | 8.80 g/cm³ (0.318 lb/in³) | | **Melting Point** | 1350 °C (2460 °F) | | **Thermal Conductivity** | 22 W/m·K (at 20°C) | | **Electrical Resistivity** | 0.51 μΩ·m (at 20°C) | | **Modulus of Elasticity** | 179 GPa (26 x 10⁶ psi) | | **Magnetic Response** | Essentially non-magnetic at ambient temperatures | --- ### **Mechanical Properties (Typical for Annealed Condition)** Mechanical properties vary with product form and temper.
