### **Product Datasheet: Altemp HX / HAYNES® 230® (UNS N06002)** **A Solid-Solution Strengthened Nickel-Chromium-Tungsten-Molybdenum Superalloy** --- #### **1. Overview** **Altemp HX**, standardized as **HAYNES 230® alloy**, is a versatile **solid-solution strengthened nickel-chromium-tungsten-molybdenum superalloy**. It is renowned for its exceptional combination of **high-temperature strength**, **outstanding oxidation resistance** up to 1150°C (2100°F), and excellent **long-term thermal stability**. Unlike precipitation-hardened alloys, 230 derives its strength directly from the severe lattice strain caused by the addition of large amounts of tungsten and molybdenum dissolved in the nickel-chromium matrix. This provides excellent microstructural stability over long periods of time at high temperatures. It also offers good fabricability and weldability. #### **2. Key Characteristics** * **Oxidation Resistance:** One of its standout features; superior to many other solid-solution alloys like 617 and 625. * **Thermal Stability:** Resists the formation of detrimental topologically close-packed (TCP) phases during long-term exposure. * **Fabricability:** Can be formed and welded using standard techniques. #### **6. Packing of Standard Packing: Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 3370 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
