### **Key Characteristics & Advantages**
1. **Excellent Corrosion Resistance:** Resists corrosion by neutral and alkaline salts, fresh water, dry chlorine, hydrogen chloride, and most organic acids. It is particularly resistant to caustic alkalies across all concentrations and temperatures.
2. **High Thermal & Electrical Conductivity:** Its high purity gives it excellent conductivity, making it suitable for electronic and electrical components.
3. **Good Mechanical Properties:** Offers a good balance of strength and ductility, and can be readily cold-worked to higher strength levels.
4. **Low Magnetic Permeability:** Is essentially non-magnetic, a critical property for many electronic and scientific applications.
5. **Good Fabricability:** Can be easily fabricated and welded using common techniques suitable for nickel alloys.

### **Important Note on High-Temperature Service**
While Nickel 212 is excellent for many applications, it is susceptible to **carburization and embrittlement** in service environments above **315°C (600°F)** where carbon monoxide or other carburizing gases are present. For such high-temperature applications, **Nickel 201 (UNS N02201 / Werkstoff 2.4061 / DIN 17742)**, a low-carbon version of this alloy, is strongly recommended.
### **Summary**
**Nickel 212 (Werkstoff 2.4110)** is a fundamental, high-purity nickel alloy that provides an optimal balance of corrosion resistance, manufacturability, and physical properties. Its standardization under DIN, ASTM, and other major systems makes it a globally recognized and trusted material for critical applications from chemical plants to advanced aerospace systems.
